my 69 camaro has only lap belts, no retractors. it also has no shoulder belts. rather than just add the retractors for the lap belts, i would prefer to add 3 point belts that incorporate retractors. it is a newly completed car with a
Schwartz chassis and 3" body lowering. hopefully, these don't affect the 3 point installation. also a bit concerned with poking holes to try to find factory? shoulder belt mounts. i am not sure 69 camaros even offered the shoulder belts as an option so may not have mount brackets.
anyone done this on a 69? i was not able to find shops in SoCal that have actually done this although several said they could. Fesler in AZ did the complete interior, but that's too far to trailer for such a small install.

The mounting points in the sail panel should be there. Best way to locate them is to find a photo that approximates the position. Then, using the Braille method, locate the center hole (about 3/4" diameter) and the two fore/aft threaded holes. Hopefully the headliner material is flexible and thin enough to get a good feel.

I installed the Morris 3-point belts in my '69 and they are great, very comfortable and the belt color is actually a much, much better match to my interior color than were the factory belts . I've provided a couple of links below that should help you with your install. The installation is super simple. My '69 came with the non-retractable shoulder belts which were miserable to use. I think the photos and tips in the links will help you a lot. You don't need to have someone else do this, just need to poke around a bit to find the holes. There are a bunch more posts about this topic over on Camaros.net, my source for the links below and you could look at those too.

so the Morris belt won't fit because my custom Fessler seats are too wide for the retractors. any idea what 3 point belts with retractors will fit?

im running a pro car rally style seat and morris classic 3 point belt setup. the seats are pretty dang wide down low and the retractor fits "snugly" between the door panel and the seat. the bracket has some sliding adjustment to it so it can be positioned in various positions to help accommodate a variety of seats

It can be done but your going to have to remove the seats, build your own seat mounting brackets and move the seats over.
That said, if your seats are more than 22" wide at the base then your kinda screwed

If you are willing to do some fabrication (or have someonehelp with fabrication), you might consider frenching retractors behind the rear door panel. This is how Joe did it on his '72 Nova using belts from a 240sx

There is more info on this in Joe's thread on ls1tech. I don't think he's posted it here. See post #897 https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/980909-lq4-into-3rd-gen-1972-nova.html#post16519343

Since I don’t plan to modify the seats, I am going to look into late model belts. Even my Z06 has less bulky retractors
