Does anyone have recommendations on frame stands and motor mounts for use with the stock '69 Camaro subframe with Dirty Dingo adapters? I have the Holley 302-1 oil pan, DSE steering gearbox, and Kooks headers. Looking for a nice aftermarket mount system. The engine is an LSX454 with T-56 Magnum.

Thank you in advance.

I would recommend using all of the holly components for best results. But if you are keeping the parts you have, use the short/wide frame stands and motor mounts. You will need to raise the tunnel to obtain the correct driveling angle with this setup. With the magnum, you may need to raise the tunnel just for it to fit. That pan will be very close to the crossmember. You may need to even shim the stands with a grade 8 washer to gain clearance of the oil pan to crossmember. Some I had to, some not.

I used BBC camaro frame stands; they will move the engine 3/4" to the passenger side for steering box clearance. Moroso solid engine mounts, dirty dingo slider adapters, Stainless Works headers, autokraft oil pan, and speedtech trans crossmember. Everything fit and did not have raise the trans tunnel. Oh and BTW, '67 camaro factory subframe, unisteer rack, LS3, and Tremec Magnum 6 speed

I would be curious to see your working angles on the driveline. If your car is lowered at all, I'd be curious how smooth it runs on the highway at 80 mph. I have built more than 10 using various setups, and every one needed the tailshaft raised at least and inch to get the angles anywhere close.(except the new holley parts). Especially with that crossmember. And I'd prefer to not offset the motor to one side whenever possible. The steering box to header clearance is not usually an issue if the correct parts are selected. I'd much rather use a turn one box over that rack in a stock subframe.

Sure, I have posted a side view of the car at ride height. The transmission tail is 3' down and rear yoke 3' up. The motor was offset with the stands to allow clearance for the rack fittings. I reckon that the engine could also have been raised to gain clearance, but then all other things change.. Also I want to note that even thought the engine is offset at the engine mounts, Speedtech crossmember allows adjustability to offset the transmission to maintain driveline parallel to the chassis.

The Holley components are great stuff; I even purchased the whole setup hoping it would work with the unisteer rack that my father had previously installed. Unfortunately, it did not. The car really drives well (high speed included) with thanks to Mark Savitske who helped me put the package together. I don't want the appearance that I am bashing others and their components; just offering alternatives that so far have worked for me.149814

Thanks guys, the car previously had a mismatched set of frame stands and mounts installed by the previous owner. I think it solved some issues but created others. The car is torn apart and getting updated so I'd like to do it right. What are the benefits/trade offs of going with solid engine mounts?

For my case, it was what I had and installed them. I thought they would drive me crazy with vibration and buzzing, but so far it has not been the case.

Also, my kid thought they would make the knock sensors go nuts on the LS3, but again, that has not been the case. Good luck

UPDATE: I ended up with Speedtech tall stock mounts and the MAST Motorsports short stroker pan. Clearance is really good. I could have used the Speedtech mounts, Holley 302-1 pan plus about 3/16" worth of spacer under the motor mounts to gain clearance with the pan/cross member, but I wasn't happy with the spacers so I shelled out for the new pan.

Maybe this information will help others.
