I'm not sure how I feel about the payload on this launch. On the one hand it is a shame to launch a nice car like that into space where it will never see earth again. On the other hand it is pretty cool to think that some alien race might come across it in space a million years from now and wonder where the hell this came from. Payload aside, that was amazing to see both boosters land simultaneously like that. I don't care who you are you have to admit that was fricking awesome! Just WOW!

And it may stir up interest in young folks to pursue sciences.
I like the approach here.

how does the vacuum of space not make the tires explode?

They had cameras mounted all over that car. Once it got into space they played a live video feed on youtube which lasted over 4 hours. At the same time they were playing the song Space Oddity on a continuous loop.

Can I be "buried " in my car and shot into space?

Yeah, this was pretty incredible. On the surface it sounds stupid to launch a car into space but if he were shooting Generic Test Payload X nobody would care. Those side boosters landing like that was legitimately amazing.

I'll have to say he's having a lot of fun with his money. I also think this is pretty awesome.

If you have more money than sense, it may now be possible.

I'm guessing they needed some weight in the payload to validate the rocket. I seem to remember hearing that there is also a big chunk of concrete on board. The space suit in the drivers seat is also some equipment that SpaceX is trying to certify for use in space, so I would guess it is chuck full of instruments.
The best part was watching the speedometer getting cranked up. That's a ride I would like to experience at least once.

This is freaking amazing. I have a hard time lining up sheet metal and these guys can build a rocket, send it to space, and land the boosters in my driveway, two at a time!

In few months after cosmic rays, micro metorites/debris trash it. And so;ar winds/radiation take its toll. Oh well at least the rocket didn't blow up with it on it!
