So I have a 65 mustang, and I’m narrowing an 8.8 out of a 99 Ranger. So assuming the narrow goes well, I have to weld perches. So just to confirm:

Pinion angle should be set at ride height, or with a jack under the rear ended compressing the spring?

And I should just match the angle of the stock 8”? It’s probably worth noting that the driveshaft will have to be shortened, which I imagine will affect pinion angle.

any suggestions guys?

Thanks

I think you have 2 choices:

1. Mock up the full drive train with the shortened DS and set up your pinion angle before you weld in the perches, or,

2. Weld the perches in the stock orientation and use aluminum shims to adjust the pinion angle when you assemble the drivetrain. Alternatively, you could use a 4 link setup to make the pinion adjustments.

In either case, you need to have the weight of the car on the suspension when you set the pinion angle.
