Looking for a new torque converter for my 4l80e. I have a 540 BBC and was thinking of a 3000 stall triple disc but I have heard that the triple disc are noisy is this true. What do brand do you guys recommend.

Yes they are noisy. It will get on your nerves after a while. Call Scott at Phoenix Transmissions 817-599-7680. They can build you a custom T/C to your specs

We've used a lot of triple disc converters over the years and I have never noticed there to be any noise associated with that style vs. a standard single disc converter. Everything inside the converter is suspended in fluid so there shouldn't be any noise from parts hitting each other. You will notice a significant difference in the feel of the lock up with a triple disc. It is an immediate engagement, but if your engine is creating a significant amount of torque it is a good idea to use the triple lock to avoid any slippage inside the converter once you are locked in.
