I think I may have bought the wrong thing. 69 El Camino LSx; SPC uppers, ATX tall spindles.

I know Dennis68 is gone and his website is long-gone so can't go back and reference that (and I'm not positive he was the one that evangelized the Speedway coil adjusters), but a while back I bought a set. Specifically, I bought these: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Adjustable-Extended-Coil-Spring-Shim-Spacer,33328.html

I set the adjustment to the midpoint and put in the Tru-Coil springs of whatever rate was suggested, and didn't think any more about it.

Now, as the front end is starting to get put together, it's obvious that the SPC uppers are resting on the frame even with the weight of the engine/tranny in the car, which seems suboptimal even if I were adding hundreds more pounds in the front.

Was the correct adjustable spring spacer to buy actually this one? https://www.speedwaymotors.com/AFCO-Adjustable-Spring-Spacer,49203.html If so, seems like I should be able to just cut mine down with the band saw.

I used those Speedway coil adjusters on my 67 El Camino and I did have to shorten them to get it where I wanted. Doesn't take much cutting though, 1/2" at the adjuster is 1" or more at the wheel, if I remember right, it was 9 years ago.

Thanks, Randy. I take it you didn't cut all the spacer off?

No I didn't. I think it was about 1" I cut off. Ended up limiting how high I could get the front, with 9.5" tall springs. So I would cut a little at first, and see how it sits.
