Global West upper control arms & SC&C tall upper ball joints.
Anybody run this on a 1st gen fbody?

I have read positive comments about both but nothing about being used together.

It seems like i would want to run offset shafts. Is there a way to know this w/o sending it to an alignment shop first?

If you run our tall ball joints with GW arms and offset shafts they should work just fine. If you could get away without them or not varies with your ride height, what alighment specs you want to run and from car to car. Naturally we prefer the adj. tubular upper arms for their wider range of adjustment (they`re also much less expensive) but if you already have Global West arms it`ll still make a nice combo and enhance the geometry a great deal. I have not purchased any upper control arms yet. Adjustable control arms look great, but getting the arms adjusted correctly & equal side to side seems a little intimidating. Honestly I have not put the time into studying why the GW arms are a geometrical improvement (other than the added length). I am a pretty technical guy & it seems like it would take me about 2 months of reading and CAD time to get to the point where i would be comfortable setting them. At that point I would consider buying my own alignment equipment to avoid repeated trips to the alignment shop.

Hopefully you will tell me it is not this complicated & the arms come preset with a typical desired adjustment.

My plan with my adjustable arms is to set the alignment with the length of the arms, using no shims... then have it aligned for the "track" setting using shims to keep it easily repeatable.

If you guys would like to see the SCand C arms and ball joints installed, with a Unisteer rack, look in project updates or the Unisteer thread in suspension.

We at Paradise Valley High School would Like to Marcus for all his help.

The suspension turnned out great. :headbang:

Adjusting the arms may seem like a big deal but it`s really not rocket science. Just measure your old arms and adjust them to that point as a baseline, slightly shorter if you`re using a Stg.1 or Stg.2. Don`t forget to subtract the thickness of the shim packs from your measurments. Bolt em on. Set the car up at ride height. Put a carpenter`s level on the wheel/tire. Adjust both adj. sleeves of the arms equally (like you`d adjust a tie rod end) until you get it level ( 0* camber). Repeat on the other side. The upper ball joint should be trailing the lower ball joint at least 1/2" (up to an 1" is fine),that`ll give you at least +2* to +5* caster. If you did the first part right this should already be so. The exact caster isn`t critical at this point just so it`s the same on both sides. That should be close enough to get it to a nearby alignment shop.
If you want to do the whole alignment yourself just get a FastTrax caster/camber gauge from us and follow the directions (just one page). You get the hang of it quickly, then it`s very intuitive and you can check/tweak the alignment any time you like for free. :)

Bob,the Camaro looks great so far. I`ll bet you can`t wait to get it on the track. :)
