Bought it off a guy on eBay. The tranny had just been built/fresher up by ck performance. I read it’s good to run an extra 1-2 quarts because of the shallow pan. Now I have fluid leaking and can quite tell where the leak is. My question is would the tranny leak of over filled?

I've read the same about over filling but had one leak out the vent tube when over filled. Since then I've run them at the correct level only.

Yes. Once the converter and cooling lines are full you only want the fluid level to be at the top of the pan. More than that will cause it to be forced out of the vent tube or wherever else it can go when it gets hot and starts expanding.

Not too many places for it to leak. Pan, dipstick and tv cable with the "top hat" seal, front seal, rear seal, pump bolts, around the pump has a gasket, speedo bullet, shift shaft, or the cooler lines. Where is the leak seemingly coming from? Some talcum or baby powder "thrown" on there where the leak "seems" to be coming from and an inspection a little later might help you to find it.

Tarnny's also can leak if sitting for a long time and the convertor leaks back down and fluid goes above the pan rail. If not well sealed you will leak.
My Trans Am would toss fluid out the vent hole when autocrossing with road race slicks. had to put and extension up on the firewall.

You can run a 200 up to a quart high at the most, after that it will usually leak at the dipstick or tv cable seal. Pan and shafts are usually a pretty good seal and made to run wet. Spray off the trans with brake cleaner and make sure, then drain and refill to the Hot Full mark and then add half a quart.
The running over-full thing is for dragrace applications where all the fluid goes to the back of the pan under acceleration for 10 seconds and uncovers the pickup, which is on the top of the filter near the center of the pan.
