So I want to install the VA gen IV system on my Firebird.
It originally had A/C but everything is missing except the vents and controls.
Can I smooth the firewall? Or do the hoses come through in the stock location?

You can smooth the firewall and add a bulkhead or route the hoses through the blower hole. A lot of options. You can download the installation instructions in the VA website to see the stock VA installation which uses a cover plate.
At least this is my experience, subject to fact checking. :lmao:

I downloaded the instructions and saw they run the hoses through the fresh air in let in the kick panel area . So the firewall could be smoothed, it comes with a block off plate.
The heater, A/C box mounts to the plate.so there would be some blots going through the firewall yo mount it or you would have to mount studs to the inside to keep the firewall totally flush

Interesting. I installed VA in my wife’s 69 vert late last year and the hoses went through the plate. New way is a lot better.
