Currently in process of wiring car and moving battery to the trunk. I am planning on using a remote starting solenoid and I'm think through the wiring for the charge wire from the alternator back to the battery. I see most people are running from the solenoid in the trunk up to the starter so that the cable is dead unless cranking. Then they are running a charge wire from the alternator or juncture block back to the battery. I'm thinking I want to eliminate one extra wire going back. If I mount my starter solenoid under the dash and use the heavy cable from the battery upto the solenoid for my charge wire I could only have one positive and one negative from the battery upto the firewall. As long as I make sure the charge/starter wire is safe from abrasions this should work? I also eliminate having to run the purple ignition wire back to the solenoid in the trunk. Has anyone put their remote starter solenoid anywhere other than the trunk or under the hood?

I don't think that is a good idea.

It sounds like it would work just fine technically. But, the reason many run the solenoid in the trunk next to the battery is to keep the battery cable dead, unless cranking. By putting the solenoid under the dash you would have the cable hot from the trunk to the dash. At that point you'd may as well just run it to the starter as usual.
