So I have a Gen VI 454 out of a 98 1 ton. Got the entire engine pretty cheap. I also have a brand new set of forged standard bore pistons. These pistons will give me more compression. So for a budget build I thought of using my new forged pistons, pressing old stock pistons off, pressing new pistons on, a good rebuild since I already have clevite bearings and moly rings, and I have a good budget short block.
But I have looked all over for weights on the stock pistons. I guess I could take one off the connecting rods and actually weigh it. As long as the weight on the stock and the new pistons is very close almost the same balance won't be an issue, if weights are off a lot, then it's a no go.
Down the road it's bore the block and go with a 4.25 stroke crank!!
