I am trying to put a part list together for a LS2 going into a 1969 Camaro. Do I have to spend the $1,800 for the Street & Performance kit or will factory brackets work? I know you can not mount the A/C without knotching the subframe.

Thanks.

Phillip

did you go to LS1TECH.COM ? go over there and do a search , there is a conversion forum with many questions answered . I used street and performance's mounts and pan . no issues at all , and i am using them again for my next car .

Just for referance, can an AC compressor be mounted in a 1st Gen chassis with an LSX?

I'll go to LS1-tech when the time comes for the details, just looking for general info at this point.

DT,

Yes, it's been done. I believe the subframe had to be notched though.

True, I believe Tyler (or one of his folks) has announced that they've got a solution for AC in that case on its way.

Yea, by BRP.. I don't like several things about that design.. one is pushing the motor too far forward and the other is the funky sway bar flip..

AC is overated anyways ;)

:icon996: Exactly-- if you get hot, just roll the windows down and drive faster. :)

I'd be inclined to agree with you on all but a few days. But, the wife-to-be sees things a little differently. AC probably wont be a part of the initial build but it will happen eventually.

it can be done but it is not a bolt in if you use the S&P style mounts.

Sorry Tom, forgot about the nice dry heat in Vegas and the High Desert of CA, When I was there in July it was only 108 on the lake bed, Nothing like the nice cool climate of Coastal CA,

Sorry, Gotta have AIR!

You should try www.synisterproducts.com (http://www.synisterproducts.com) They may have a solution.

I had to notch my subframe for the compressor. I just received the bracket from Vintage Air to mount the Sanden compressor in the stock location. It's either that or using S & P's top mount set up that puts it up high on the passsenger's side.

scogin918 , I have to ask , what mounts are you using with the LS1? S&P's mounts require alot of clearancing of the subframe to get it to fit . I have the same bracket you speak of . I would be interested in seeing some of your work in this area.
