Just wanted to tell y'all about my new project. It a 1979 C10 Big Ten, short bed with a 305 and a three on the tree.


I cannot post up pictures currently bc photobucket decided to screw me.....

Since this is my somewhat first dabbling in a truck build I am going to need your help!!! Here are my plans...

- get original 305 and 3 speed working reliably
- it needs a complete brake set up....do I go stock or simple upgrade?? WHATS AN UPGRADE FOR THIS??
- floor pans and fix the destroyed interior (it needs EVERYTHING)
- suspension........I have no ides where to go with this...flip kit...coilovers...c notch....??!!??!!
- a pull out LS at some point

Sounds great welcome to the truck family! I have a 85 c10 named lowretta. The most helpful thread by far is the make handle thread rob @nolimit did on another forum, tons of good info,member feed back, trial and era and overall outcomes. Take a look at my truck, I did a rear flip kit with two leafs removed, flipped shackles for better articulation and poly bushings. Up front I cut 1.5 coils off and poly bushings, I plan to go back to full springs with drop spindles but for now it rides and handles decent for a cruiser. These trucks are heavy so even with my 350 it's a little sluggish off the line but it's still fun. Good luck with the build hope you get the photo sharing situation squared away

What is your overall goal? A cool parts runner truck for cruising or are you going to auto-x it?

Here's my "plan" for this truck

1) Get the stock 305 and 3 speed working reliably.
2) Get the stock JB5 code brakes working reliably. This has the 1.25" wide front rotors and the 2/75" wide rear shoes.
3) Get the suspension dialed in...which will more than likely be the Ridetech Street Grip kit.
4) Fix up the interior...new seats...floor boards...etc
5) LS SWAP with 4L80!!

Hey Doug, sounds like a great plan. Before you start anything you need a rendering, feel free to hit me up :D.

You've got a great plan and as a 70's square body owner myself I look forward to seeing it unfold. As far as photos goes, Photobucket screwed us all. I now use Imgur for both myself and Speedtech. It takes a minute to figure out the pattern for uploading and posting but once you do it's easy and of course free.
