he said he was going to fix the wagon and it sat for 2 years at a friends shop, i stopped by weekly first, then bi-monthly, then monthly and nothing done to it all. finally picked it up, pulled the motor and trans getting ready to ship the car south for the body work. decided to go with the sbc/700r4 because of all the parts i have from old motor. i have been out the pro-touring thing for years now and my question is i need some help w/ the motor plans. what should i build? a 427-383? i know u need some more info, so please ask away. i need help.
thanks

Whats your budget? Thats going to determine most of it.

Done right, a 383 build won't bust your budget and will have enough torque to pull that heavy longroof around.

Build a Dart or World block in 383-427 would be cool. You dont have to break the bank just buy FITech fuel injection, a decent Bowler 4L60E with all the bells and whistles and a paddle shifter for the autocross. Assuming its either B body or G Body so Ridetech can fix up what ever you need in suspension easy enough. But honestly if you plan accordingly even a stock block 383 with decent heads shouldnt break bank and handle great power. My thoughts would be Kore3 C5/6/7 brakes, Ridetech suspension if properly chosen.
Heck I dont plan on having $7k in my whole car!
Good Luck

thanks USAZR1 and monza, i'm leaning towards a dart block(406) forged goodies and some nice heads and efi. i already have the 700r4 freshened up to handle 600hp. the car is getting 2x4 frame rails and a triangulated 4bar connecting the alston front clip w/ a roll cage. wilwood 6 pistons unless baer wants to float a deal because my last name is baer!
