Please note I don't plan on creating any engine or transmission drawings I was just curious if the average hot rodder would be interested in them.
I created a very accurate computer model of a 6G72 and 6G74 Mitsubishi engines for fun. I even created detailed drawings.
It takes a lot of time but I enjoyed doing it. I want to create a computer model of a whole custom car that I then make from scratch when my kids get old enough to help me. I originally planned on using a 3000GT AWD drivetrain which is why I created the models.
I decided to look into some other powertrain combinations and I was surprised that I couldn't find dimensional drawings on any engines that were accurate enough to use for a serious layout.
My buddies suggested that somebody should make computer models of common engine and sell them as a book/CD/print pack.
I think it is a loosing proposition because you can buy plastic engine for mockups and layout drawings would get plagerized to death. The hot rodders I know tend to just deal with design problems as they come up instead of planning a project from start to end.
Pro-Touring cars appear to have much more planning done than a typical hotrod. Do you think computer models and prints would be a valuable tool for hotrodders?
