View Full Version : Can I Change to Delrin Bushings in Old Style Ridetech A-Arms

I have a set of upper and lower Ridetech suspension arms for my 1st gen Camaro which were made before Ridetech switched to Delrin.

Does anyone know if I can get replacement Delrin bushings for these arms? I contacted Ridetech, and they don't sell anything. But I can't imagine the bushings were specifically designed for those arms, so I should be able to get aftermarket bushings that would work. I just need to know what fits.

Thanks in advance!

Ryan I have some ok news, and some bad news.
When I changed the control arms over to Delrin we replicated the poly bushings we had been using with Delrin bushings.
The lower control arm used poly bushings, so Delrin part # 70010759 is a direct fit. . .however, the arms may be difficult to install. We moved things around a bit as the Delrin does not move like the poly would, so they can be a bear on some cars.

The old style uppers utilized an OE rubber bushing and cross shaft (I believe the bushing was a K5196, as they are used on nearly everything from that era).
When we re-designed the arms for Delrin I made the upper control arm bushings larger which eliminated the need for an additional inner sleeve and I made the bushings "interlock" into the arm so the arm cannot deflect under braking. This also required a custom cross shaft (into which we designed caster slugs).
Though we make a Delrin replacement for the OE 1st gen control arms in our StreetGrip kit, I know of no other option to replace the rubber bushing with Delrin.

Here's the other kicker. . .we've moved things quite a bit over the years. . .ball joint locations for increased caster being a big one. So even if you were able to get Delrin into the old style arms they are not as good as the new stuff.
So goes the relentless march of progress.

Thanks Britt! I appreciate the support.

To clarify, I SHOULD be able to use the delrin bushings from the Street grip system on the upper control arms, it's just potentially going to be a pain to install?

Thanks for the heads up on the ball joint location changes. I'll have to consider a new pair of upper arms at least. It's always been a struggle trying to get the caster I need.

Caster:
You need both upper and lowers. We changed both.
