Just curious as to why 2 3/4" exhaust isn't used. I see so many guys trying to decide between 2 1/2" and 3". Seems like it would be good for all the guys in the 550-600 hp range.

Because no one that I'm aware of makes 2 3/4" exhaust pipe or mufflers.

I used it on my Trans Am to good success. 2 3/4" to the wye pipe and 3 1/2" single the rest of the way. You have to custom make it but in some situations it is the best for the combination.

If somebody made a decent 2.75 muffler I think I'd want to give it a try. My build plans put me right between needing 2.5 and 3.

Applied Technologies had a nice mandrel 2 3/4" catback system for Buick Grand Nationals back in the day. It was promoted as being good for 600hp, better than 2 1/2", and quieter than 3".

Nowadays it's common to go 3" to the mufflers and then 2.5" to the bumper, -- flow is very close to 3", fitment is much better, and the system will be quieter.

The LT1 C4 Corvette came with some 2.75 inch exhaust tubing.
