I have a DSE power steering pump on a VA Frontrunner on a BBC. I just noticed that it is misting fluid out of the vent hole in the cap. I checked the fluid level, hot, and it was actually a little low but not bad. I'm using regular power steering fluid. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

It happens even if I just take it out for an easy cruise. I checked and it didn't look like it's boiling or frothy.

Bottom line is , they do that.

They just can't stand RPM.
I could make the one on my car spray the inner fender....
I went thru several caps, and even switched my crank pulley to slow the pump down a little.
Nothing helped.

I ended up getting a remote reservoir style pump. Problem gone.

I had several type 2 pumps do this, I eventually found very minor leaks as the cause. It would never leak when running but once car cooled in the garage I would find a drip under the pump. I bought some flare tite AN seals and it worked. I had power steering drama years on one of my builds. Give it a try on your connections , rebelled and use a good PS fluid such as KRC or CHs11
