I have a BBC with a HP of around 525/575. It is in a 66 Lemans Convertible. It has a manual transmission and Vintage air front runner system. I also live in Florida. The radiator is a 4 core Champion with their 2 12" fans and shroud. The thermostat is a 180 and the fans turn on at 175. The car runs under 200 as long as I don't get caught in traffic with the a/c off. The fans just don't get it. What should I buy to replace the fan A single fan would make changing the belt easier as I have to pull the fans to get to the tensioner. My fan controller is a Dakota Digital hooked into their dash. Should I just buy a pair of 12 fans from whom? Or go with a single fan. I built most of the car before I retired and now money is tight.

For what it's worth, I would stick with 2 fans. If 1 fails, you always have a second. If you only have 1 and it fails, trust me, it happened to me. Do you have a shroud? If not, you should, it would help with your cooling issues.

Not all fans are created equal. Do you know the wattage rating on the fans that you have? GM rates their fans in watts, for instance I have a C6 Corvette fan in the Cougar and it is a 400w fan. I would look at various OEM fans that fit your radiator core. I hear the Ford Contour dual fans fit the early a-body radiators nicely.
