I'm doing a few modifications to my car like removing the inboard headlights to make air inlets, etc. and my local Home Depot and Lowes just don't have the *right* metal mesh for my taste. Kinda expected I guess.

I think most of you guys already kinda have in mind what I'm talking about.

Here is a close-up of what I'm looking for:

My problem is with buying online, there is just no frame of reference so really know what it's going to look like until it arrives. I think I'm wanting something where the size of each hole is just barely too small to get the tip of my pinky finger into. So a little smaller than this picture, but no smaller than half this size.

I'm really hoping someone here who has bought something similar can provide a P/N or a link to what they bought and vouch that the size of the mesh is appropriate to an automotive application. It needs to allow a ton of air flow but block leafs, plastic bags, birds, etc. lol. Something that really has that old school Trans Am series race car type vibe.

I haven't even seen what I'm looking for in real life to measure the size of the mesh. I also know this is a very personal taste thing, but I figured I'd see what others have used. I do want a specific look/style, which is why I posted the pic.

Thanks!

Try McMaster Carr https://www.mcmaster.com/#expanded-metal/=17v6eti they have all kinds of mesh and expanded metal sheets.

I don't know exactly where you are trying to put the mesh, but this exists from Spectre. Part number 97891
140829

Hmm, I'll have to look up what size that is. Then if I decide to use it I'll have to match the mesh perfectly for everywhere else I'm using it.

I'm doing mesh in the headlight buckets, the ram air scoops on the hood, the windshield cowl, on the lower front valance above the air dam on either side of where the license plate would be, and also in the fenders under the air extractors.

Ok, I'm going to order that Spectre headlight funnel stone guard along with it's headlight funnel.

Then I found this mesh which I think it a close enough match for the rest:

Seemed to be the closest match I could find online.
