Nissan 240 SX 77 Trans-Am clone...... Why would someone do that to a perfectly good Nissan?

Honestly it doesn't look that bad. My question is why in the world wouldn't you just go drifting in a TransAm?

From a trans am guy....And no we are all not named Bandit...Some of us are 6.6, T/A man.....
Anyways, man that is something..... Words can not express it. It is just something

What a coincedence. He took my idea. I was going to graph my 79 Trans Am front onto a VW Bus.
It looks like a Chevette with a shaker.
...actually I am having trouble trying to figure out if it is retarded or not. A few of those angles look ok. Others look goofy. . . .hmmmmmm
...and mine is NOT name Bandit either. It's Sally. Just kidding.

first off, it's a 79-81 style front clip.
second, as a poncho guy, I also do not know why youd slather pontiac style all over a nissan.
third, I kinda almost want to like it from the front.
fourth, camaros are mulletmobiles, trans ams are afromachines. Yes, I do have an afro. And bellbottom pants. And listen to disco.

Even though I have a Pontiac, I am not a Poncho guy. I just like my car.
This is a great quote...and however SO true! although i dont have a 'fro either.

It took me a second to realize that was a Nissan! It was close enough that I thought he did something funky with the back since nothing on the car was looking quite right. I can't say I have any comment on the final product, however it looks like it's a really sub-par installation.

I am putting an outboard boat motor in mine and a Honda racing wing on the back. I also want those 12 inch rims that are gold plated and stick out from the car 5 inches. :firefire:

What do we call it?
Shmokey and ra bandit.
Doesn't look as bad as it could though, just a little confusing.
Did ya ever see the guy that put a GN 3.8 in a '93 RX-7?

I think we call it a 240 TA.
Thats what the sticker on the back says.

Personally I think it doesn't look half bad...considering it's not a Chevette front end grafted onto a Gremlin.
It took me until one of the last pics to figure out that it wasn't a RX-7. Somebody had some spare parts and a lot of spare time. It's definitely different.
Tony~
its not a photoshop. this picture was posted on www.transamcountry.com a few weeks ago now. the person who posted the pics linked it from the guy who owns the car and he popped in to explain the car after receiving so many hits on his website.
basically the car is set up to drift, the owner/driver loves second gen TAs especially the Black SE cars aka Bandit cars but can not afford one so he did what he could to make it look like a second gen TA. its obviously peiced together but it doesnt look bad. if someone had simply told you want he had done youd think it would look horrible. oh and please guys dont be as foolish as a lot of the TAC guys and think the car is weak. its a turboed 240 and he making nearly 400 at the wheels, and 240s are RWD for anyone that doesnt know. so the car is not slow or rice just different.

so wouldnt that qualify as pro touring? updated brakes, engine, handling in a 2nd gen pontiac!!
do drifters upgrade their brakes? if they do is it out of a need for bigger brakes or is it to just show off some cool gear? sorry i know little about drifting other than basically youre controlling a car that isnt setup to corner correctly.

Here is the real deal drifting.

And no, brake upgrades are not really important for drifting. Stock disks are usually more then enough.

This is the second time you have been warned about your smartass comments. Do it one more time and you will be on the outside looking in. If you do not have something good to say, keep your mouth shut. We will not tolerate that here. If this is not your style forum, find somewhere else to troll. Any response, make to me by pm.

Im sorry dudes. Ive never made any negative coments concerning
domestics, but that car was a little crazy. Im just trying to keep the mood
light harted no hatred intended. I was thinking this was a pic to make us
giggle I didnt think it was to be taken seriously. Ive never made 1 remark
about anyone on this website ever, Ive seen what I thought were much
worse comments by other people but im not the judge. I thought the post
was a joke, guess not.
:hand: Once again sorry.:hand:
im betting the cones are layed over similar to an autox so that they point in the direction you need to go. just a guess though.

Interesting. I didnt know they did that. There is one pic though where the cone is standing up. hmmmm....
apex cone or boundry cone. not all the cones are layed over at an autox either.

you know actually other than the rear end, especially the taillights, it really doesn't look all that bad, other than it is just slapped together. if the taillights were more TA style i think it would look ok. not that i would ever do that but it wouldn't look as bad as some things i've seen, the Ring Bros yellow camaro comes to mind, the front and rear treatments on that car are just :barf:

Heh, that's my favorite part...It rolled off the assembly line this way, and I've got the build sheet and window sticker to proove it :)
The way those resto nuts twitch when I tell them that my car came originally with a genuine chevy 350/4 barrel and a saginaw 4 speed is so priceless...
