What are the advantages to using a 600 series box vs. the 800? I'm building a '72 Olds 442 convertible as a daily driver. I was planning to rebuild my stock 800 series steering box and upgrade the variable ratio internals to a fixed 12:1 ratio. The rebuild cost is around $300. Just trying to understand the benefits performance and cost value of the 600 series box. Thanks.

They are a different design box, newer technology (aka like going to a LS from a small block, yes you can build up a small block, but it will never be a LS)

In the end, you get what you pay for

you will appreciate in a daily driver
