Just figured I'd share my results with you guys, in case you are curious about what 2005 Corvettes can run in stock form on stock tires.

My car is a Z51 coupe, 6-speed manual. 5K miles on it now, still stock down to the tires.

12.54 @ 113.2 (2.01 60')
12.59 @ 113.4 (2.02 60')

These runs were made last Friday at Houston Raceway Park.

I'll be installing a Magnacharger, longtube headers, catback with X-pipe, and a camshaft by the end of the year. Hoping for 10s

Tony, were these times bone stock? i.e. no torque management removal, 160* t-stat, other minor mods, etc.? They are pretty impressive times. I hadn't heard of anyone breaking into the 12s without removing the torque management, but I'm not really up to date on the 'vette numbers.

Thanks for the info.

It is amazing what the C5/C6s can do when driven by someone who knows how to drive.

Ralph, I have the 160 thermostat. No performance gains there, just keeps the car cooler when you hotlap it :)

Tom, they are DPE Forged wheels. www.DPEngineering.cc

Tony,
Sounds like we need to get you into a C6 Z06 for some real drag strip numbers. I know that car has 10.9-11.2s in it, in bone stock trim. Great numbers for the C6. It's refreshing to see that these are actually mid 12 second cars, and not low 13s like most people are experiencing.

Looks like you are ready to bracket race that car....and win. Those are some pretty good back to back times for a manuel trans. on street tires.

Back in 98-00 I used to bracket race my manual 10-second Formula about twice a week. I won six consecutive bracket championship monthly events here in Houston with that car, and was the only manual tranny car in the top 10 each time. I would just dial it down to 10.85 (from 10.6 ET best) and leave the line a little less aggressive, in order to remain consistent on the launches. I probably made over 2000 passes in that car :)

Ralph, I would love to flog a Z06 down the track. Those cars should run 10s with just some better tires on them. With 127 mph trap speeds, you would only need like a 1.7-1.8 60' time to get into the 10s.

I think I was in the lane next to you on one run if this was last friday at baytown. Quick car! I remember a black C6, don't remember if it had your wheels though. 73 Z28, silver/black stripes. My whole rearend came off the centering pin on the springs that run. really sucks, but I was happy to not have any damage and loose only a few hours with the help of many people to get it recentered.

note to self, do not put money down on a race against a certain black corvette. :icon996:

Tony,
I didn't want to get too off topic in this thread but if you are considering upgrading the brakes on this C6 at some point (PBC does not have one yet) you should check out Wilwoods 13" or 14" 6 piston kits. PM me if you want some pricing. BTW I seen the brackets to your kits on the shop list. Have you been in touch with someone here on when your stuff will arrive?

Erik, that was me. I was glancing over to see if your car had a rollbar to determine if I was about to get cracked on that run, haha. I was wondering what happened, I saw you shut her down almost immediately. Hopefully no damage to that nice Camaro.

Laramie, my Z51 brakes seem to work fine for now, I have other parts to upgrade first. Your guys said it would be mid Dec for my 69 stuff to arrive.

Someone tell me how 10's are possible how much does the car weigh and how much HP and torque do they make?

Dragrace calculators are normally fairlly accurate to me the car would have to make at least another 150HP for it to run 10's.

My 69 Z Made 563Hp and 600 ft lbs on the dyno the car doesn't spin and it does an 11.54 @ 117.5mph.

I haven't seen any of the Z06's trap that high up our way. We've had two at our track events and the highest trap with a terrible launch was a 125. All of the runs with good launches were in the 123-124 range. I think you'll see them down in the mid 11's or low 11's with tires but I just can't see 10's. I've heard HRP is one of the fastest tracks so maybe you guys down there are running a little faster than we are?:dunno:
