Any SBF/Fox Mustang experts in the ranks? I have some unresolved issues and have a lot of contradictary info about the problems and their origins.
1977 Ford Bronco Resto-Mod
1991 Ford Mustang EFI 5.0 HO Swap
New Painless Chassis Wiring Kit
New Painless 5.0 Conversion Engine Wiring Kit
FiveologlyRacing.com (http://fiveologlyracing.com/) Computer and Maf, for a conversion (because not available new)
Completely stock rebuild on engine, stock injector size, stock computer, stock maf, eletric out of tank fuel pump with fuel pressure regulator.
No emissions components, no a/c, I have reinstalled the (new) EGR, just because I had it and it was an easy check to see if that was my issues.
On to the problems, The truck runs like crap! driving down the road it seems fine (not as much power as I expected but not bad) during Idle it will have inconsistent problems with idle speed, loading up and wanting to die, obviously low vacuum when low idle, and it will sometimes be to the point where it will need to be "2 footed" to stay running.
I have replaced the distributor and module in one shot (actually exchanged the new one that was in it) just to make sure there was no problem in there.
All grounds are good, timing is correct, no vacuum leaks, good and constant fuel pressure.
So do I have problems with the EEC thinking that there is still emissions like purge canister/valve etc. and need a chip to program those out of the computer? Or is there no need for that with removal of the emissions on a 1991 Mustang? If that is the case then any ideas of what my issues may be?

No tune needed on the egr stuff. Any TPS code? Sounds like bad tps or maf/injector issues. Maf is tuned for 19lb injectors?

Stick 1991 Mustang Maf for the stock 19lb injectors. Only code I had was the egr. So I put it back on, all new parts also. Code is now gone.

It will throw the egr code but has always ran fine for me with it all removed.

Crazily enough I'm very familiar with custom tuning the early 90's Ford EEC. I purchased the Mass-flo EFI system back in 2006. Essentially it's an off the shelf Ford EEC with a custom wiring harness and sensors and pip distributor for a Pontiac engine. I was forced to learn how to tune it because it ABSOLUTELY was not plug and play as advertised. Got myself a wideband and tuning hardware/software and am now better off for it.
I added a GM slot style MAF in a 100mm housing and used a frequency converter to translate the frequency signal to a 0-5V signal for the EEC. Custom programmed my own MAF transfer function and modified other things as well. Car runs great. 42 lb/hr injectors.

If you ever want to tune it, the gospel reference website and tuning hardware/software are as follows:

website
EECtuning dot org slash forums
https://eectuning.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=14

hardware
quarterhorse for Fords at Moates dot net
http://www.moates.net/quarterhorse-for-fords-p-199.html
http://support.moates.net/quarterhorse/

software
Binary Editor (can download from www dot eecanalyzer dot net slash shop)
http://www.eecanalyzer.net/shop

All (website/hardware/software) actively supported and work great.

Any issues you are having there is an expert on the EECtuning dot org forum. His username is "decipha" and usually doesn't use punctuation or capitalization... he gets straight to the point and will tell where to look with your issues.

Post in the "tuning the eec" section and see if he responds. Good luck.
"Cgrey8" and "85GT" are helpful as well if I'm remembering correctly (last I used the site was in 2014, but i just checked and its still very active--lots of earlier Ford stuff still out there)

I've ran several foxes without the EGR hooked up and it never really caused issues with the way it ran, it just threw a code. That being said, after I took those cars to get tuned with a chip for the new build, they wrote the tune around the EGR and I never had any issues with seeing codes again. The cars an great too!
