I'm trying to find a cheap set of 18" wheels to put on my car so that I can get my brakes sorted. I'm having trouble finding wheels with the correct back spacing. I'm looking for 18x8 with 4.74" BS up front and 18x9.5 with 5.5" BS.

Any suggestions?

Hey AU Doc. I have a pair of fronts that would work for you. I had them on my 69.

I'd be interested if it was a full set. Tho shipping might run up the cost more than I'd like.

I've been looking at the U111 Rambler wheels from US Mags. Summit sells them. I think around $200 each for a 18x8 and $210 each for a 18x9.5.

I had coys, am not impressed the valve stem gets in the way on a C5 brake swap

I've looked at the ramblers, but I don't think they have an 18" with a 4.75" backspacing for the front.

I probably need to measure what I've got to see what will clear on my car. For all I know, I may be able to get by with more backspacing.

Im running a 17x8 with 5" of back spacing with a 245-45/17 and the tire just kisses the frame on the inside of a full lock turn. A 1/4 spacer would set it just right.

FYI, this is with Billet Specialties Street Lites on a 1969 Camaro.

Yeah, 4.5" or 5.0" backspacing. The 4.5" wouldn't work?

I don't know for sure if a 4.5" BS will or not, but I'd like to keep the wheels as far in as possible just to prevent any rubbing on the fenders. I need to get serious about doing some measurements or I'm just going to be guessing.

It's a bit of a chicken or the egg situation though. I'm trying to get this car going in steps, and I have to have wheels before I can upgrade my brakes. However, if the brakes change the track width, I could end up needing new wheels. Doing both at the same time can be a pretty healthy chunk of change!

I don't know why, but I've only considered spacers in passing. That may open up a lot of options that I'd dismissed before!

Thanks for the help, everyone!

I had the same dilemma. Cheap and perfect fit aren't mutually exclusive but they are pretty hard to reconcile.
I went with these http://www.rev-wheels.com/rev-wheel.cfm?id=17608&cat=1270 in 17x7 front and 18x9 rear from Matt at MCB.

Bumping this thread because my new Baer Iron Sport brakes on the rear won't clear my existing 15" wheels.

I need an 18"x8" wheel with a 4.75" back spacing for the front, and I'd like to stay under $400 per wheel. The only wheel I've been able to find is the Rocket Racing Booster, but it's really not my speed.

The rears seem to be a little easier. I can go 18"x9.5" with a 5.5" backspacing or an 18"x9" with a 5.25" backspacing. But finding rears with those sizes hasn't really been a problem.

Are you guys aware of any I've missed?
