The motor is a BBC 489 CI. I have been using oil at a quart per 150/200 miles. At that rate I should be fouling plugs or have a stream of oil under the car as I have 6000 miles on it. I have neither. I have been fighting a lifter noise ever since the motor was built. today I pulled the intake off [Weiand Tunnelram] and noticed that around the crossover on both heads the "hole" behind it was full of oil. I checked the gasket and the intake and they matched so there should be no oil in that area. It did not look like it was leaking . Is it possible that it is sucking oil into the exhaust and burning itIf so what is the cure? Can I fill that hole up with red silicone? Is it possible the guy forgot to put an oil restrictor in dome where?

Sounds like you need to seal that hole and get yourself a proper PCV system with a catch can.

get a crossover block off or make one and a good set of gaskets, make sure you seal them well when installing, its very possible you could be getting oil into your exhaust if you didn't have a good seal but you should see some signs of it like smoke out the tail pipes. if that much oil was going into your pipes i'd hate to see what the inside of the mufflers look like.
