I'm just installed a new cam and chain on an LS2. I am putting a new melling oil pump on and when aligning the bolt holes with the engine the pump was harder to spin (align) then I anticipated. Is that normal? Once on the crank will their be notiable resistance?

This is the first time I've ever done this so I'm scared to torque it down and continuing without some reassurance.

You need to center the pump onto the crank and the outer gear in the pump housing with feeler gauges. There are several good videos online of this being done.

^^^^This....The bolts don't align the pump. They just hold it in place.

Thanks guys. I did the alignment with the feeler gauges. Still seemed very tight after completing install, but I read on a link that melling said this is normal. I'm going to double check with melling tech support this week.
