What is the biggest rotor and caliper disc brake upgrade that I can swap from another car onto the 69 Camaro that I just purchased? I am not familiar with Chevys at all so you will have to bear with me.
Will any big brake packages from any year Corvettes work?
How about any of the Trans Ams?
Any GM big cars have big brakes like Impalas,Caprices etc...
What is my best (cheapest) option for rear brakes. The car currently has a 10 bolt drum setup with drum front brakes also.
I am doing this car on a budget.

Cheapest Front: C4 Front discs/rotors, I like the C5 disc brakes, which touring classics offers a C5 type set-up.
Rear: LS1 Camaro rear disc brakes-salvage yard, or Touring classics has a nice kit.

Are the C4 and C5 brakes a bolt on type of deal??? What would I need to make them work?
The LS1 Camaro Rear disc brakes, are they a bolt on to a 10 or 12bolt rear? What would I need to make them work?

I'll say again Touring Classics advertises here. It's in the link bar to the right. But, here it is anyway http://www.touring-classics.com/

Most of those are a direct swap with the right brackets. But Moparguy, I must ask, what do you consider cheap? The touring classics are still over $1400 ish front and rear. Baer is...well never mind. Do some shopping for used parts and you will be suprised how much monet you can save.
My list... FRONT:
~C5 front calipers loaded (caliper, abutment, hardware and pads) Cardone $140 each side with core
~rotor GM $55 each drilled & slotted $45
~special bracket $125
~hoses and adapters $75
REAR:
~93-97 Rear calipers loaded (caliper, abutment hardware, and pads) Cardone $145 each side w/core charge
~ 93-97 rotor GM $35 drilled & slotted $75
~ hose kit $65
~ special adapter brackets $135 pair
~ Lokar park brake kit $125
this is a gotta have now kit and you can save even more if you seach the Corvette boards and ebay. Most prices are from GMpartsdirect.com and Rockauto.com

Mr Quick, please explain the "special adapter brackets $135 pair", are these used to eliminate the the staggered shock clearence issues?

you can if you drill them properly...now this is the bracket to mount LTI brakes to your diff. Baer sells them for around $200 a pair.
If you use the stock $50 GM rear bracket you will have to have it welded up and redrilled.
I have less then a $1000 in my JL8 clone system. JL8 was an option in 69 that put the 69 Corvette brakes (fixed four piston calipers, and 11.75" rotors at each corner) on the Camaro. The only part I had to make was the rear axle flange. I cut off the old one and welded a new one on. Everything else is readily available, from the master cylinder to brake lines. You might be able to save a few bucks if you looked harder for some of the pieces. The system works great, but is not the lightest way to go as the calipers are cast iron.

Here is a List:
Front brakes
(Speedtech-Performance) caliper brackets-125.00
Disc brake hoses-24.95 each x2 (Ricks first gen) need one for each side.
standard to metric adapters for the brake lines to work with the metric calipers.(autoparts store)
C4 Rotors-(Gm parts direct) $110.00
Brake Pad Kit-(Gm Parts direct) $55.00
C5 Calipers Complete-(salvage yard)$50.00 each x2
mastercylinder-75.00 or salvage yard S10 Mastercylinders work great.
Drum Mastercylinder will not work. I went with a CPP Mastercylinder which runs 139.00, but it comes with a proportonal valve.
disc/disc proportional valve-40.00
total-Approx. $550.00 give or take
Rear brakes:
third gen camaro rear brakes will swap out just fine. Check your local salvage yards. I got my rear disc brakes complete for free, but I don't see a guy having problems finding them.
4TH GEN. camaro rear brakes also work good, but I can't tell you much about the swap. I hear of guys using 4th gen. quite often.
Reasons for running C4 front rotors: gives a bit more room than the C5 rotor. The diameter is the same, but the width is different. Most guys run C4 rotors just to be safe. This set-up will require you to run 17" wheels. Although I have heard of guys running some 16" it requires spacers. -I don't know much about the 16" wheel stuff.
couple sites to check out:

www.touring-classics.com (http://www.touring-classics.com)
www.pozziracing.com (http://www.pozziracing.com)
If you order the C5 brackets, use the speedtech-performance distributor out of Oregon. He is a bit cheaper than ordering directly through speedtech. His name is Larry, great guy. If you have any questions call Todd at Speedtech, he is very helpful also.
Also, The C4 front disc brake swap is a good route also. The brackets are cheaper. I have even seen them on ebay for around 50.00. See David Pozzi's web site for more info. on this swap.

I found these guys in another post: https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7076
http://www.kore3.com/
After reviewing thier website I gave them a call and was very impressed. I would have saved alot of time on my C5 set-up if I knew about them 9 months ago.

What are you hoping to spend, and what size brakes do you want?
You can do front and rear 11" discs for well under $1000, but if you want anything bigger, the price goes up considerably.
