Would anyone happen to know if I can change a 1.69" Taper to a 1.5" taper in a spindle?
I would like to change the upper BJ from a K778 ball joint (1.69" Taper) to a K772 ball joint (1.5" Taper) if possible.
If done some research and Howe racing sells a longer stud if needed.

Keyser Manufacturing has some taper adapters available.

Part Number: 100 398-1
You will have to talk to them about the outer taper, their description doesn't state what is. Maybe they could make some for you...

Could you use a reamer to change the taper in the spindle? I'm not sure how much material you'd have to remove but in principle, it seems like it could work. I bought a 7-degree ball-joint reamer tool from Speedway to clean-up my factory spindles. Here the link:

Let us know if this works out.

Without knowing the actual taper diameters I have to say reaming it will not work. If the ball studs are similar in diameter and a 1.69 taper is already in place the 1.5 taper is too small to "ream" too. Material would have to be added to the 1.69 taper to be able to ream it out for the 1.5. A shim is a good alternative if you can find or have one made.

Thanks for the responses, I sent Howe racing an email and will await their response.
