Haven't posted in a very long time, got a buddy with a clean 67 400 4 speed GTO. Stock/resto, but he wants to put a nice exhaust to include ceramic coated headers on it. Any recommendations? I like Hookers on my Fords, but read a lot of posts about hanging low. Car sits up at stock height, but want to make sure he has clearance but can still get at oil filter. Understand those are common Poncho complaints.
Ironically, I have had a 69 'bird with a 400, a '78 Lemans with a 455 transplant, and a '71 Lemans with a 389 transplant, but that was 30 years ago, never a header issue and I was young and poor, so they were likely Blackjack or Cyclone LOL but they fit fine
Any recommendations?

Dougs headers is what you want.

I'd give Dynatech a look. I have them on my '69 Camaro and they clear the PS box, fit tight to the floorpan and you can't beat the ball and socket connectors at the collectors. I don't know if they make them for your car, but I'd sure check into them. They come with top quality stainless reducer cones to connect up with your existing system and the ball and socket adjustment will make that connection leak free even if they don't line up 100% in line. That won't be the case for headers with the conventional flat flange connections.

Thanks!
So I read a lot about Doug's headers, but none were clean kills either. Some said fit great and would accept an oil filter access issue, others said had to modify the clutch linkage. So far they seem to be in the lead, but does anyone make one that fits cleanly with no oil filter issues (oh and BTW what is the issue?) like I said, I never had an issue with Ponchos in the 80s. This is a real clean 67 400 4 speed, no problem with a difficult install, but I don't want to have to cut parts of a clean car to make a set of headers fit.
I have no issues coating after an initial fit, but would really like hear if anyone is running on a 4 speed car. This isn't an uncommon car, surprises me there isn't more info out there

I used Doug's on a 68 Buick GS350 last year and was very happy with the quality and fitment. I'll definitely hope they are all like this going forward, so I can use only them. Haven't been happy with Hedman or Hooker lately.

Thanks, leaning toward a Doug's Try-Y to get as much room as possible. I have had great success with Hookers over the years on Fords, and my Hedmans do pretty good, but what I see on the internet is these Ponchos are pretty crowded
I'll give them a call, money really isn't an issue, but I want this one in an out of the shop as unmolested as possible, both to the car and headers.
