I finished installing Detroit Speed mini tubs. I measured about 15" clearance for both sides on my 69 Camaro. Hope its enough.:dunno:

Was wondering how wide are the 335 30 18" tires. I see different manufactures will all be a bit different.

I plan on getting 18 X 12 rims

What are the approx size of a 335 30 18 tire?

Thanks

I have 335/30/18 BGF Rival's mounted on 18x12 Forgeline GA3s and the width with tire mounted measure 13 5/8". Others will chime, but 15" clearance would be the minimum. My fenderwells lips were rolled and measure in the 15.25" - 15.5" range.

Here is a link to the tire specs for BFG Rivals.....however view the specs for the tires you plan on using

Rocketrod,

Thanks for the info & the link. Much appreciated. I take it your tires do not rub?

I have not rolled the wheel wells yet. Do you think with 15" clearance the tires will rub?

I am in the final stages of finishing my mini-tub install, but I already have the wheels and tires. Once the mini-tub is completed, I will set the wheels in place and get the measurement (width) for the the rear end.

With a fresh, tight rear suspension you should have no problem. I put a set of 265/50-18's on the back of my '56 wagon. They are literally STUFFED into the fender well. There is about a 1/2" clearance all the way around the tire. I have no rubbing issues at all.
You need to get the tire set up in the wheel well. Roll the lip on both sides and then measure the new space. Try to keep the tire about 3/4's of an inch from the outer lip. This is done by measuring the rearend width, making sure it's centered in the car and then calculating the back space needed to set the outside of the tire where you need it. Keeping the tire out, toward the fender, will reduce any worries you may have with inner suspension or frame clearance.

Thx,
I plan on using a stock width read end.
