I posted this in the LSX forum but I didn't get many responses (probably because everyone in there is still working on their car and may not have gotten to this point yet).
I am interested in hearing how people doing this conversion mounted their computer. I have heard of some having a longer harness custom made and then mounting it inside the car. If that is the route you took, how did you do that? Did you buy a custom mounting bracket or modify the stock one? What company did you use to have the harness custom made? Also, is there perhaps a company now doing a conversion kit for just this type of modification? Sorry...been out of the game for 7 years and need to play some catch-up.
Thanks.

Hey Tony,
I don't put the ECM inside the car. It's really a lot of trouble to do that, and you end up with something that's difficult to service. I put them over on the passenger side under the hood, making sure I can get to it to remove or add wires or even to R&R it.

Squeezed mine under the passenger fender of a 67 Camaro (used the 67 Rally sport headlight relay bracket as a starting point). Try Speartech for custom harnesses. https://www.speartech.com/

If you choose to run it inside, there's a nice spot in the trans tunnel, just inside the firewall on the pass side. Use a hole saw and run the harness thru there. Speartech makes a nice grommet for $10 that has a closed center that can be slit to make a tight fit around the harness. I used to mount the ecm above the glove box liner, but just did one mounted on the trans tunnel up against the firewall. Inside the console is also an option if you're using one. I use a company out of Indiana for my harnesses. Not a supporting vendor, so PM me if you want his info and some pics of the harness routing I used. They have done several from scratch and also reworked a few factory harnesses for me. Great product and company.

I have a Street & Performance harness, that I had them, add length to it, put it on the passengers side, under the fender, all the way up front, easy access to it, I made a simple bracket for it, then made a cover, so it's cant be seen,

Assuming you will relocate your battery to the trunk, the original battery location makes a convenient place to mount the ECM.

If you are running a vintage air you can piggy back off of the VA Bracket (using Spacers) just in front of the controller box and weld a couple of threaded bungs onto the firewall. Hard to see in pictures but hopefully you can make it out...

Does the ECM have any chance of fitting on the side of the tray with some type of support bracket if the battery is not relocated i.e. between the battery and the area before the outer fender.

on my 51 plymouth, with a dodge 5.9 magnum, i have the Mopar PCM mounted in the engine bay on the pass side as far from the motor as i could get it, i used a jeep Grand Cherokee harness that had to be modified to fit, but it was simple wire extensions to fit the different length to my motor.
