Like the title says.. what are you using for color matched caliper paint? i'm looking to match the new c6 z51 calipers on my Pontiac to the same color as my body paint.

so far i see most people painting cast aluminum calipers with a color matched option using an item such as G2 caliper paint kit, which has the option to request a paint code matched paint. and most others using a rattle can auto parts store red, yellow, black.

this topic has been covered to death. i'm not so much looking for 'how does x' product work, just what people are using for color matching their calipers to a specific color. How did you apply it? ( brush, rattle can, paint gun ), did you clear coat it or polish it?

lets see your calipers!

thanks,
mitch

I'm not sure how well the G2 stuff resists brake fluid, but I went with powder coating my calipers. I haven't gotten it all together yet, but I did have a mishap in the past where my chrome master cylinder cover wasn't sealed well enough after my first build and the break fluid got onto my left frame rail, steering box, booster and firewall which were all color matched to the car. It pretty much destroyed all that paint. I ran silicone fluid for a few years after I repainted all those pieces. But this time around, I'm going back to traditional brake fluid with powder coated and plated parts. Prismatic Powders has a lot of colors and they offer a color matching service for $100 if you send them a sample of the color you are trying to match.

Like Joe said, your worst enemy will be brake fluid. If the calipers are on and working, with no bleeding to be done, you can paint them with what ever paint and method you want. Brush on enamel works well or any rattle can paint. Unless you are getting the brakes red hot every time you drive it there is not enough heat produced to "burn off" any of the regular paints, enamel or otherwise. With enamel, the little bit of heat produced will simply help cure the paint and bake it on. :)
The calipers on my wife's '94 Formula were brush painted with brite red enamel in 2010 and they STILL look good. No issues with them at all.

If you could use a VHT Header paint that close to the color you want to use. I used on my drums and calipers on my 1981 El Camino SS.and my 1979 Z28 RS Camaro.
