I know many of you are well aware of the importance of a properly adjusted TV cable on the 700R4 and 200-4R transmissions. But there are still many folks that are unaware of how important it really is. The pictures I have included here are from a brand new transmission with only 14 miles on it. The clutches are completely destroyed and some got so hot that they fused together. You can also see how much clutch material ended up in the pan, which also means it's spread throughout the entire transmission. This unit now has to be completely tore down, cleaned, and rebuilt. The install was done correctly other than the TV cable adjustment. The installer was un-aware of how important the proper cable adjustment was and just set it up like you would a TH350 with a kickdown cable. In this instance there was not enough internal line pressure being applied to the clutch packs and they immediately burned up due to excessive heat from slippage. This is typically not an issue with any GM factory type installations, but rather when a 700/200 is being used in conjunction with an aftermarket carb or throttle body fuel injection system that isn't set up for proper TV cable geometry. There are a lot of solutions out there to correct the TV cable adjustment, so please use one if you are going to be installing a 700R4 or 200-4R transmission. The extra time and cost associated with proper TV cable adjustment is a fraction of what a new rebuild will cost when the transmission fails. We offer a great bolt on solution that is super simple to install and would've kept this from happening. https://www.bowlertransmissions.com/shop/automatic-parts/tru-shift/tru-shift-throttle-correction-arm-system/

Great write up. With the appropriate kit set up is a brezze. I went with bowtie over drives and the kit installed without a hitch.
