Which bolts do you all attach your cherry picker to when you are removing your engines? I am about ready to pull and the bolts I am looking at are kind of tiny and on the head.

You can use an adapter plate to mount in place of your carb on your intake manifold and pick there or use your intake manifold bolts (front and rear - opposite of each other) to pick from. Make sure that your bolts are strong enough though. You might go pick up some grade 5 or grade 8 bolts for those locations just for the pick.

i just thread long bolts through the chain link and on opposite sides of the intake manifold bolt holes. I use big washers to keep the chain from sliding over the heads. its cheaper than buying one of those plates and works just as well.

I ended up buying one from Jegs since they are right down the street. It actually worked really well. I wouldnt trust it to hold the thing long term, but it did it's job.

Thanks!

I use a Harbor Freight leveler with four chains. Turn the crank and you can raise or lower the back of the engine, even if it has the trans on it.

Thanks! I am going to get one of those when I put an engine back in. I was going to go to Jegs but now I will check out the Harbor Freight one.

i use a leveler also that i got from kragen and just use 2 grade 5 bolts in the heads. when you reinstall the engine wrap the ends of the chains in shop rags or you'll damage that freshly painted engine!
