How many camaros met this ugly fate? I know roof chopping has been around for a long time, but i have never seen it done to a camaro, what a waste. It completely ruins the sexy roof lines these cars have.

I notice he has used 68 glass in the doors, musta been a real pain to get glass to fit...

If the rest of the car is in decent shape would it be worth $10K only to have the roof replaced with a donor?

I like the chopped roof. I know there are a lot of purists out there but hey, we customize our cars all the time. I think as far as chops go, it looks good. I think it is worse when someone takes a hardtop and tries to make it a convertible. Now THAT is a pitiful look.
Don't know who said it but this quote always stuck in my head..
"anyone can restore a car, it takes a real man to cut it up!!"

I dont think the chopped roof is that bad at all. However you would have to be a short person to comfortably ride in the car and see out the windshield.
I like that quote Mark.

Frank is the man that you are quoting I do believe.

The first thing I thought was it must be a short owner, as the roof in a Camaro already offers limited head room. Looking at the fixed seat position, I would say the owner is none to large. I do not mind the look as much as I hate the way it limits possible riders, drivers, owners.
As far as the quote, I cannot take credit for inventing it, but I can sure attest to living it!

The roof chop isn't too noticable but it's just noticable enough. It's not my taste though.
I wonder what "lexon" windows are? (I'm such a nitpicker!)
$10000 and no bidders yet. Hmmm

I like the chopped roofs on camaros and bird. I just think he went a bit too low.

I agree. I personally think that, assuming you can deal with the height issues, an inch or so chopped off the top can look very good when done right.
That three inch chop just looks cartoony though.

If he sectioned the body some I think it would look even better. I don't know who could fit in that though :hah:

I think that if they had've used a Camaro instead of a DeLorean in Back to the Future, that would've been the car.

Dosen't look bad at all. If he had laid back the windshield a bit it would have really looked nice. The A-pillars are just a little too short looking.
Of course, if he had done that he would have needed custom side windows and that would have been SPENDY!

I saw one of those at a swap meet here in Dallas. Seller said the 3" (or was it 2"?) body sectioning had been done by Barris.
I didn't like it. I didn't like it one bit. It was just... wrong. The work had been done well, but it lost "the look" as part of it.

I don't know that I like it. Perhaps if the car's stance was dropped and it had the whole g-machine treatment it might flow better with the car. It looks funny on a drag car. I'll have to agree with Frank, these cars are hard enough to get in and out of as it is. I'm 6'2"...I'd probably have to dive headfirst into the passanger seat to get in.

Not at all a fan of the chopped roof, or the car in general. The chop doesn't look terrible from the front, but the rear-view is less than appealing.

Agreed. I don't like the front view all that much but from the rear . . .UUGGHH!!
When I wear a helmet at the drags I have to sit off center so my head doesn't bust through the headliner. I can't imagine losing another 3 inches.

That would be just right with a nice lift kit and a set of 35's! :spank2:
And no, I am not talking about 335's!! :firefire:

Did you notice the cut out rear fender lips to clear the big tires?
