Do you remember the crazy 48 Hour Camaro (http://www.ridetech.com/garage/new-48-hour-camaro/) Ridetech did back in 2011 and the 48 Hour Corvette (http://www.ridetech.com/48hourcorvette/) in 2015? They are doing it again on a GMC C10 truck and this time it's going to be done where you can watch it in person.

RideTech has partnered with Barrett-Jackson, the World’s Greatest Car Collector Auctions®, to feature their 48-Hour Build concept live in front of thousands of auction attendees. The two-year partnership launches at the 2017 Scottsdale Auction at WestWorld of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, AZ, taking place January 14-22.

RideTech will build out an existing 1968 GMC C-10 truck over the duration of the auction and transform it into a complete, upgraded version to send over the auction block for sale on the final day of the auction. The RideTech 48-Hour Build will be part of the new Barrett-Jackson Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Pavilion, where select automotive companies will present hands-on demonstrations and exhibitions on a variety of projects being conducted in real time.

The base truck is a restored vehicle that will be upgraded with Forgeline wheels, BFG tires, Baer Brakes, Fitech EFI, TMI interior, No Limit Engineering fuel tank, Currie crate rear end, Vintage Air air conditioning, Classic Instruments gauges, a Kicker stereo, C&R radiator – and, of course, a new RideTech StreetGrip suspension. The completed Pro-Touring-style truck will then be auctioned to the highest bidder on Sunday, January 22, at the 2017 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction.

“After demonstrating the concept of building a fun and reliable hot rod in 48 hours since 2011, we wanted to expose this success to an even larger audience,” commented RideTech President Bret Voelkel. “We thought there was no better place to do it than at the largest automotive lifestyle event in the world, Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale!”

For those attending the Barret Jackson Collector Car Auction in January, the DIY Pavilion is located near the staging lanes outside the auction arena. For those not able to attend in person, regular updates and live feeds of the 48-Hour Build will be available via the RideTech Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ridetech) page as well as http://www.ridetech.com/48hourc10/ and other social media posts from Barrett-Jackson and many of the 48-Hour Build component suppliers.

Folks, I'm out here at Scottsdale. The 48 Hour Build is turning out great. With 350,000 people expected, this project really shows off these awesome trucks to both new and old enthusiasts. The build team is also showing people how easy it is to work on this truck platform. It helps that the ol' GMC pickup is in really nice shape. It's not my favorite color, but the metal is straight and rust free.
The most amazing thing is watching the heads of these great companies dive in and personally install their products. So not only is the buyer of this truck going to get an American Autowire electrical system, for example, but it's actually being installed by Michael Manning. Ditto for Vintage Air where V.P Rick Love is getting it done and the other contributing manufacturers. Some of these guys have been around the industry forever, but they can still turn wrenches with the best of 'em.

If you are coming out to Barrett-Jackson, be sure to stop in, check out the truck, and introduce yourself to these fine manufacturers. They are happy to put down their tools and spend some time talking with you.

And if you can't make it, please stay on top of the build by checking out the photo galleries, watch the live feeds and watch on Sunday around 4PM local time (Mountain)

..and remember that the truck is selling No Reserve to the highest bidder. Anything can happen. It should be exciting.

Looking forward to checking it out tomorrow. I was a little curious about it selling at 4:00 PM Sunday though, since Sunday reverts back to the cheaper cars. Hopefully there are people interested in this truck and hanging around for it.

Here is some more action from the Ridetech 48 Hour build at Barrett-Jackson. There are literally thousands of people coming over to see the truck apart and watch it go back together. Its an old truck so with age and manufacturing tolerances, the parts are definitely not installing themselves. The most interesting thing is watching people with bidder badges walk over to inspect the progress as if it is already THEIR truck. It ain't sold til the hammer drops.

Can you imagine doing all of this work and then sending the truck across the auction block?

The build effort has been extraordinary. The 48 Hour time span was divided into daily segments so that the Barrett-Jackson visitors would enjoy watching progress each day. So while the crew didn't quite experience the thrash from the first two 48 Hour Builds, the process was challenging nonetheless. Cold temperatures and heavy rains hung around for much of the build.

That's right -- it rains in the desert. ..and the temps inside Barrett-Jackson's DIY Pavilion rarely exceeded 50 degrees F. There were times when the build team was working in a pool of standing water.

With all of the hard parts installed, the top half of the truck was wrapped by EA Wraps. The black with orange separator stripe gives the truck serious street-cred. Between the wrap, the killer StreetGRIP stance and the Forgeline wheels, you completely forget that this thing started out looking like a farm truck.

Enjoy some pictures and be sure to enter our "Guess The Hammer Price" by clicking on the link above. The truck sells at Barrett-Jackson tomorrow, Sunday January 22 at approximately 4PM local time (mountain standard time).

Oh, one more thing: Bret's offering a "48 Hour 10% discount on the entire StreetGRIP Product line. The clock started ticking already, so click the link below and act fast.

One of the great things about Barrett-Jackson events is that they set up "Ride and Drive" tracks where you can take a thrill ride in a new performance car from GM, Ford or Chrysler. If you are so inclined, you can hop out of one new car and try out the next. It's a big time.

What you CAN'T do, however, is sneak out onto the track with some old pickup and tear it up! That's a great big No-No. No can do. Nuh uh. Not gonna happen!

Unless, that is, your name is Bret Voelkel, president of Ridetech. Somehow, Bret managed to sweet talk the Barrett-Jackson people into letting him test drive the 48 Hour 1968 GMC pickup. I'm sure he suggested that he -- Umm -- wanted to make sure that all of the nuts and bolts are tight prior to the sale. ...and to make sure that the new wrap wasn't gonna blow off.

The shakedown was a success. The truck runs great, has phenomenal stopping power and the stereo is excellent. Handling and ride quality from the StreetGRIP suspension system is lighters ahead of the OE parts. Some lucky Barrett-Jackson bidder is going to take home a great truck.

Anyway, some highlight photos from the shakedown are shown below. You can see the entire gallery at:

The truck sold for $82,500 all in. $75,000 hammer price. We will announce the Contest Winner soon.

Here's a recap: Another amazing 48 Hour Build Project is in the history books. Ridetech's first two efforts, the 48 Hour Camaro and 48 Hour Corvette compete regularly in autocross and road course events with Bret Voelkel and Ridetech Motorsports Manager, Chris Smith behind the wheel of each car.

The 48 Hour GMC pickup, however, has a new owner behind the wheel. The wining bidder visited the Barrett-Jackson DIY Pavilion at the beginning of the week and sure enough... he was right there in the arena on Sunday afternoon.

The Barrett-Jackson DIY Pavilion is cool. The winning bidder had the opportunity to see the disassembled vehicle. He was able to watch as the new American Autowire harness was routed. Likewise, he looked on as Vintage Air installed their exceptional AC and Frontrunner system. ...and with more than 100 new parts waiting for their turn to be installed, the winning bidder had the opportunity to engage the sponsoring manufacturers and inspect the parts.

He was not alone. Barrett-Jackson's DIY Pavilion attracted many tens of thousands of visitors during the week. Each enthusiast had the same opportunity to check out the truck and talk up the sponsors.

When it was GO Time, Bret Voelkel had the honor of standing up on the block between Craig Jackson and Steve Davis. He said a few words while millions of viewers followed along on TV and on Livestream.

The 48 Hour pickup looked amazing under Barrett-Jackson's block lighting. Bidding action was hot and heavy. When the gavel hammered down, the new owner literally jumped for joy -- as did the entire 48 Hour Project Team.

Barrett-Jackson's 46th Annual Scottsdale Auction has come and gone, but hopefully, the Ridetech 48 Hour GMC Pickup Build will leave a lasting impression.

-- 67-72 GM trucks are gaining in both popularity and value. Everyone at Ridetech loves 'em.
-- There are some truly amazing parts manufacturers out there. They're run by some of the coolest and hardest working people you will ever meet. Bret Voelkel, myself and everyone at Ridetech would like to thank the 48 Hour GMC
