Looking into new wheels for the my chevelle just wondering if anyone can give me some pointers, or if they've ran a similar setup and have clearance. My current suspension is Front, umi tubular upper and lower a&arms,2 inch drop spindles,2 inch spring, rear umi control arms,3 inch cpp springs. I want to run minimum a 19x10 or 11 5 3/4 BS with 305 tires for the rear. Anyone know if I'd have any clearance issues?

Team chevelle has a tire wheel database let me know what you end up squeezing under there. I know you can roll the fenders and having a tight rear to illuminate sway helps huge.

I believe a 305 will rub regardless of backspace do to the shape of the wheel wells at the "top" so to say . I do know I had a few spots in my wheel wells where there was rub evidence... this of course was lowered car and fully compressed suspension...

Was that with a 305/30?

I think a 295 would work just fine just trying to run a 305.

You can lower it and run them ....just on suspension compression they will rub . I'd say pop the shocks off remove the springs and use one of those wheel fitment jig thingies lol ...jack the axle up with it on you'll see how it narrows and can come it contact

5 3/4 BS is pretty standard fitment for a 10" wheel on the rear of a Chevelle of that year. If you go 11" you might have to roll the lips with a 305. Some of it will depend on the brand of tires because the sidewall bulge can be different.

Bingo.

Tire sizes are not exact and vary considerably from one brand to another, even different product lines within the same brand.

Any suggestions on a quality brand Tire to run as you described the sidewall bulge? 305/30/19 ok?

I've seen a number of 70-72 Chevelles and El Caminos with 17x11's w/6.25" bs and 315/35/17's on the rear. Also have seen a few of the same year cars running 18x11's w/6.25" bs and 315/30/18's. That has been quite a few years so I haven't seen anyone running 19x11's with a 305 or 315 tire.

I've run 20x10's w/6" bs and 295/35/20 Michelins on the rear of a 68 El Camino w/stock width 12 bolt, without any clearance issues.(2" drop)

The problem is lowered and suspension compression either a big bump...or load in the bed/trunk...passengers etc
