I have been lurking here (and the Lateral-G forums) for many years while building out my 69 Camaro, however last year I was able to pick up an All Wheel Drive 1932 Roadster called QuadraDeuce. I'm hoping many of you have seen the car before - I remember reading about it in the magazines 20 years ago. Here is a little history:

Version 1.0
First created in 1995, the QuadraDeuce was the brainchild of Summit Racing Equipment R&D Chief, Mark Stielow, famous for his Pro Touring Camaros. It was initially painted purple and yellow, had a 6-speed transmission and made the rounds in all of the major car magazines such as Hot Rod, Car & Driver, Street Rodder and of course the Summit catalogs.

Version 2.0
Recreated in 2000 by Troy Trepanier of the famous Rad Rides by Troy. The original QuadraDeuce contributed its GMC Syclone front differential and transfer case, front suspension, Corvette ZR-1 rear differential, Harwood fiberglass/carbon fiber body and grille shell insert. The rest of the vehicle was heavily modified or built from scratch to create a whole new look.

Version 3.0
Updated in 2016 by Campbell Auto Restoration, the paint, engine and drivetrain were all retained. Everything else was updated including new interior, leather dash, gauges, soft top, brakes, wheels & tires, headlights, and many changes to the suspension geometry. She has a few nicks and chips, but that iconic paint from version 2.0 is still there.

Some updates specs below:
CHASSIS
Frame: Harwood frame rails stretched to 112" wheelbase
Front Suspension: Pushrod activated A-arm, GMC Syclone differential with custom half-shafts and limited slip
Rear Suspension: C4 Corvette suspension with coil overs, Corvette ZR-1 center section and limited slip
Brakes: Baer four-wheel disc 6 piston calipers (14.0" front and rear)
Wheels and Tires: Budnik Pivot SKO (18"x8" front, 20"x10" rear), Pirelli P Zero tires (245/45R-18 and 285/40R-20)

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Modifications 3.0: Mirrors and headlights by Campbell Auto Restoration

I've seen this car many times and wondered at its performance potential, looked wicked with those race tires and the specs were killer. Has it ever been run hard and tested? Or is it just a showpiece? What are your plans for it?

Well, since the Lingenfelter engine only has a few thousand miles on it, I was not about to mess with it. The only things we needed to do with the engine were to change the valve springs out (after 16 years they were not up to spec) and the ECM. The old GM ECM was impossible to tune, so the new Holley ECM was able to get it running nice and smooth.

It's a bit of a handful to drive. I'm still getting used to driving it, but if I were to attempt that it would need a good harness to keep me in the seat - Campbell Auto built comfy seats more than racing seats. As well, I don't think I can get it into any of the autocrosses because it does not have door handles and probably 10 other safety issues. But I'm definitely driving it hard - it will spin all 4 tires for a few seconds when stomped on, but then it just takes off instantaneously.

Welcome to the forum! I remember seeing the Quadradeuce at a GoodGuys show after Troy finished his version. Such a cool ride and I only got to see them crack the throttle once, but man that thing shot like a rocket off the line. Have fun with it!

Thanks! It is extremely fast off the line, and I'm used to a Tesla.

As a side note, I have a Bowler in my 69 Camaro build.

I saw your your car and we chatted a bit at the August GoodGuys show. It was great to see the Legendary "Quadra Deuce" in person. It was a little sad to still see the molding nubbins still on the tires, I don't think I could leave the parking lot with out burning them off. I understand though, its a very nice car and I appreciate that Campbell didn't beat it up for you. I am sure that car could be ungodly fast with some tuning and seat time. If you want to have some real fun with it come out to an AmericanAutoX event with us. There is a bunch of dates this year and it is a fun group to run with and the course are usually wide open and fast.

Tire nubs are now gone, so no worries there. It only burns the tires for a second at full throttle then it takes off. So it's almost faster to burn them off in the turns. Maybe when I get more comfortable with it down the road I'll take it into an open area and try to get it sideways a bit to find the limits. Being AWD is just a strange "pull" from all corners as opposed to the tail coming out based on throttle input. I'll get used to it. Thanks for the invite!
