View Full Version : Custom A/C hoses - who's kit?

I have a Vintage Air Evap and condensor with #8 and #10 fittings on the Compressor. I would like to run the high side line from the drier to the evaporator through the fenderwell and back through the firewall. The low side line I would like to run behind the engine back over to the compressor [driver's side].

Who can I buy fittings and hose from? It seems like I need a universal kit of sorts with a long rubber hose and select the fittings.

I recommend Eaton's EZ-Clip hose and fittings. You can assemble it yourself, the hose OD is minimal, and the bend radius is great. Vintage Air sells it.

X2. I used them when I made mine and would highly recommend. A little pricey but worth it

I used the EZ-Clip hose and ends on my Roadrunner. I got everything I needed at Hose Warehouse Hosewarehouse.com (http://hosewarehouse.com/specialty/Field-Specific-EZ-Clip-A-C-Hose-and-Fittings) including the crimping tool for a lot cheaper. I can get you part numbers of the fittings I used if you need them as the online EZ-Clip catalog can be confusing.

Reduced barrier hose is easier to bend as well. Highly recommend.

I think that would get me started if you can find those numbers?

I'd like to know the parts numbers too, when you get a chance to post them. Thanks.

Prices on that site are better than at VA and I'll agree on it being confusing.

Sorry for the delay, been busy during the holidays. I'll work up a listing for the fittings that I used and post up this evening.

Hopefully this is correct...I went through the kit and tried to match up the parts at hosewarehouse.com:

If you go to page 4 here: http://www.vintageair.com/Instructions2013/907002.pdf

This where the hosewarehouse.com part numbers match up in order if I did this correctly.

1. GH134-06 (10')
2. GH134-08 (6' )
3. GH134-10 (5' )

4. 22546-11 (5)
5. 22546-13 (2)
6. 22546-15 (2)

7. FJ3013-03-0808S
8. FJ3012-02-1010S
9. FJ5984-0606S
10. FJ3055-01-0606S (2)
11. FJ5985-0606S (2)
12. FJ3055-030808S
13. FJ5984-1010S

14. 1F40105-06C (5 )
15. 1F40104-06C (10)
16. 1F40105-08C (2 )
17. 1F40104-08C (4 )
18. 1F40105-10C (2 )
19. 1F40104-10C (4 )

20. Grommet, Large (these should be the same as the ones included with the VA kit already unless I'm mistaken)
21. Refrigerant oil for hose assembly (will any do or something specific?)

The pliers and cutters are $52.81 & $35.19 as of this posting. They may be available elsewhere cheaper, but I haven't looked yet.

I haven't added the other parts up to see what the exact difference would be.

If anyone sees any mistakes, please let me know.

The descriptions highlighted in Blue are the exact same fittings that I used. I'm assuming the other 2 fittings are the high and low side port fittings, I used FJ3054-1010S - #10 straight to #10 hose with low side port and an EJ3410-0808S - #8 45* to #8 hose with high side port to work with the my low mounted compressor on a big block Mopar. I ordered a few extra cages, clips and o-rings just in case.

So far, #9 and #13 will not work with the evaporator. They are staright -6 and -10 as listed and should be 90's. I'm not sure if all evaporator units are the same, but for my 70-81 F-body kit, these should be :

9. FJ5985-0606S (90 Deg -6)
13. FJ5985-1010S (90 Deg -10)

The rest of the kit looks like it'll work, but no way to tell for a while as I'm not quite there yet.

Does Reduced Barrier Hose go by some sort of technical name at Hose Warehouse?
