First post here, already found a wealth of info! Looking for advice from readers on our latest project with the intent of using it on the street but with the main focus Autocross, road course track days and a little street red light to red light performance as well!
Little odd build though, since we'll be using a Gen 6 all motor 800HP+ Big Block Chevy 496 stroker motor, with nitrous system as well in this one. Cast block, aluminum heads, parts supplied by TRE Racing engines.
Long story, but the motor is built and cammed for road course and street strip use already. Straub Technologies did the custom grind for us so we can have the best of both worlds on the street.
Originally planned to go into a much different chassis, the Ranger is our second choice because of time and ease of completion due to health issues. So we are looking to use the stock Ranger frame boxed as needed for stiffening with something different suspension wise on both ends for putting the power to the ground.
We do not have the Ranger yet, so any model we might need over another would be fine to know about.
We have connections for access to a large Ford only salvage yard, who we could likely get to round up any suspension components recommended by readers rather than go with a complete custom setup from the aftermarket world. Pricing for example of a complete Cobra front suspension would be far less than a custom aftermarket setup would be.
So we are leaning towards salvage yard components even non Ford to get the job done. If the best choice is a Corvette front assembly, then so be it. Looking to set the engine back as much as possible and lighten the whole truck. Full Molly cage will also be used. Truck will be as close as we can get to a street driven race car, with the looks to match.
Fabrication abilities are covered, as well as 30+ years in the collision industry as is the equipment needed to do the build. Priority is to keep costs low, using parts readily available over the counter. Would like to run it low to the ground and have it look like something ready to go racing with SCCA...
Readers -feel free to suggest any parts you think would hook us up and make this thing fly on the track! This will be my last build so looking to leave my youngest son (26), with something special.
Thanks in advance,
