Its been some time since my last update on the car. Its still in the mock up stage. And things are still changing as I see fit. The car started out as a 62 Impala 2 door h/t. Now well its a ? 62 everything changed roadster/speedster. Not sure what you would really call it. ok I cut the top off. removed the frame and added more body supports from art morrison. reinforced the frame.bodys back on. all trim is removed and smoothed, changed deck lid to a biscayne.2 tail lights/3 on Impalas. removed the original dash and changed to a 55/56 chevy dash. dakota digital instruments, 4 buckets 2front 2 rear, custom center divider for rear seats. 350 tpi w700r4 trans. changed from mass air flow to speed density.18/20 wheels. tubular upper and lower control arms front and rear.3.73 gears. all bumpers and winshield trim is brushed nickel. After I started this project I found a post with a rendering of mike desmonds work of the shicayne that was not used. thats pretty much what it looks like without a top. color will be yellow just like in mikes rendering. Now I just need a name for this thing.

about time somebody built that car. Love that rendering.

I have a super rare Paxton supercharger set up for a 409 that would be the deal for that car. Not cheap but then again have you ever seen one before???

Looks pretty cool...I was thinking of using a 55 or 6 dash in my chevelle they look really good IMO! Got any pics of the whole car?

Did you see the 62 that was done this year by that kid from missouri? Two toned green w/really nasty interior?

I may have seen it ,was it dark green? I saw it at goodguys columbus. It was called emerald. If it was the same car? The guy was really young I talked to him about the car and IMO that car will have some problems if it gets driven. it had no frame support not even any extra body supports. but it was a great looking car.

yes it was called emerald....I agree with you he basically cut the top off smeared some mud over it and called it a day...Whats funny is the kid that built it thinks he is chip jr. told a buddy of mine that since he built that car he was a step ahead of the big builders(made remarks to troy, chip, etc etc) :bsjerk: :bsjerk: ya right

Are you going to lay the windshield back or build a removable hard top for it?

travis,Yep must be the same kid, We were standing with in ear shot when his car was being judged. He made the comment that the big guys knew he was on his way up.Buy the way I like your project also, I have been following it.Bad Apple seems to be a good fit. Keep me updated on your build. Hey travis forgot to answer your question on the windshield 62s are pretty layed back from the factory, looks even more layed back with no vent windows so I was thinking of chopping the winshield frame about 2" but not sure how I would address the windshield gasket? Hers just a few pics of the car as of tonight. fenders and hood wont go back on until after paint they already been mocked up. now its on to some floor pan repairs and the rear cover fabrication. I wanted to keep the rear speaker from the original seat so it will be worked into the rear seat divider.Sorry about the spots on the pics Guess I need to clean the lens.Anyone come up with a name yet. Thanks Tim

I might be but it is expensive due to it having a T Bird style VS57? supercharger on it. They are expensive so I would have to get about $3500 and it does need rebuild at the least. Have most of the parts and all of the 409 specific stuff. Bought from 409 guy who said it was experimental deal?

Actually it has been stored for years. I will have to did it out.
