I am debating doing an LS swap instead of building my 455 Buick engine for my 65 Special. I am curious, if given the option which engine would you build for your pro-touring car; an aluminum 5.3 truck engine, or a 6.0 iron engine? The price is the same for either engine with the same mileage on both. I am leaning toward the 5.3 L33 engine. Stock it makes pretty much the same power as the 6.0 and will take about 100 lbs off the front of the car.

If it changes anything, I will do a cam and intake swap before putting it in the car and will run a set of long tube headers. Either engine will be backed by a 4l80E.

After doing some more searching and reading it seems as though the consensus is a tossup as to what people prefer. Mods, you can delete the thread if you like.

L33 would be my choice for the weight savings.

I think I am going to go with the 6.0. Mostly because of the ability to use L92 type heads and ease of making over 500 hp with out a turbo or supercharger.

good choice. alot more potential w 6.0. Having a 5.3 in my camaro and wanting a 6.0. 5.3 runs really good but a good cam and those heads youll be easily over 500
