Noticed the overflow tube running from the radiator to the overflow tank had some light brown liquid in it.

I open the radiator cap and found a very light brown color in my radiator. It isn't milky or foamy and it doesn't feel like oil. I'm stumped.

Engine is new with <1500miles
Radiator, hoses, etc.. new <1500miles
Tranny new <1500miles

Car does not overheat and the oil on the dipstick looks clean(I changed the oil <200miles ago). Praying it's not a blown head gasket.

I am going to flush the radiator to be safe but I'm wondering how serious this could be.

I use Evan's waterless coolant which was green last time I checked - 2/3 months ago.

Thanks

It could me the remnants of rust, If you had a blown head gasket you'd know it.. I'd say drain it and flush, then put new coolant in. Check it after a few miles of driving and see what you've got.

that makes me feel better. I guess the next question is - rust from where? The radiator is new, the hoses are new, the engine is new - there shouldn't be any rust. The fuel lines were rusty and replaced last week but I don't think thats the culprit.....

if you have an Iron block motor you could have a spec of rust in the coolant if you have some water in the mixture.

Dart SHP iron block. I guess what sparked this was the fact that the engine got hot enough to spill coolant into the overflow tank. Waterless system using Evan's coolant. Just got it back from the shop and the mechanic isn't claiming he added water to the system --could be lying though.

I guess it's worth noting that I've noticed a white smoke on start up recently. Initially, I thought engine is running rich. Hoping it's not a head gasket.

I'm actually really stupid. I had some extra Evan's coolant lying around. Poured some straight from the container and it's the same exact color and texture. I'm good. Its the Evan's product - so relieved. Have a bit of egg on my face but it is what it is.

I love that stuff, zero issues boiling and ya dont even need huge pressure rating cap. I used to have pn for 2psi but misplaced it.
