4th Gen rear discs on 2nd gen?

A friend offered me a '96 Formula Firebird for really cheap (he took the T-56 out and doesn't want the rest). I'd like to swap the LT-1 into my '78 Type LT. I know I'll need a new harness and maybe an ECM reprogram, but what about the rear? Since it's a Formula it has a Posi and rear discs, can I use the backing plates and rotors/calipers? Any other parts interchange?

*EDIT* I did a search and found that I can make the swap, but no one really shows or explains how it was done...anyone?

Couldn't you cannibalize the existing LT1 harness?

The rear disk backing plate has been standardized for years - I've got 96 Firebird rear disk brackets, calipers, and rotors for my 69 Elky's 12 bolt. Not so sure about the guts of the rear end though.

Thanks derekf. Normally, I could use the stock harness but the car had an interior fire and most of it is damaged inside the cabin. The ECM survived, but parts of the harness from there to the firewall bulkhead are melted. (that's why the car is so cheap.) I'm basically getting the LT-1 and a rolling shell. I will be using the LT-1 and rear backing plates,rotors,calipers. I just wish the T-56 was part of the deal.

It's a 1st gen, but it may work. There are some dimensions that you can use as referance.
