railroad bob here, live in Alaska, have a car project in Washington.
Yep, I'm certifiable.
I work long hours away from home for several weeks at a time. Not conducive to building a car. Or having a life, either.
I have 2 retired buddies who have built several of their own cars, and worked on some for other folks. They agreed to take on my project while I work at keeping my banker happy.
Last winter I bought a 69 AMX project car and a 1970 donor (severe rust issues).
Also a 2008 Ford 4.6L DOHC and 5 spd Tremec TR3650.
The goal is to marry everything together and have the most bitchin ride in the world.
The reality is that there are unforeseen issues that need to be worked thru. I'll be happy if I end up with a ride I can flog sometimes, cruise long distances comfortably, take to a track once in a while, with a nice paint job. I gave up on perfection years ago, but I don't want to settle for something inferior either.
Looking forward to delving into the threads and hopefully learning from experiences and mistakes shared by others. And also to checking out what other folks are doing with their projects.
Thanks to the folks who spend their time running the show.
Edit after reading the FAQ: I'm pretty sure you can tell my first name is Bob, my friends say I have a one track mind, but I like to say I'm the light at the end of the tunnel.
