Looking for advice on a compact box for 5 relays.. would like to use std relays, looking for a bussed kit that would be nice and neat.
Trying to avoid the mini relays only because I have all the std relays already.. but I could be convinced otherwise..
the Hella kits are not bussed so I figure they are messy to wire..
The bussmann ones are slick but the only ones I found were for all mini relays.. What about take outs form the bone yard?
Any ideas considered..
thanks..

I have some Delphi stuff banging around. PM me your email address and I can send you pictures. If you want something new, the Bussman boxes look very nice, but will use mini relays, just like the Delphi ones that I have.

I think stielow used the bussman stuff on his last build. I was think about that, looking at the waytek site. But i saw AAW now offers a kit, and i think painless does too

They are available bussed and non bussed. As a bonus they are compact

Just grab an LT1 (or a V6) 4th gen underhood aux. fenderwell mounted relay/fuse box-compact, neat/tidy and will look factory....I use them all the time.

Can the back be opened up to run the wires right from there instead of splicing if its been cut out?

Not mine but this gives you an idea-if you search a few auctions you'll see the lid/cover for it too. These are easy to find at a junkyard-they are mounted on the LH inner fender behind the core support. Very compact-they have a large stud to provide a bussed source for power and the fuses are bussed to each other-so wiring in fuse protected relay circuits is very easy to do. The lid/cover goes over it with a single screw down stem in the middle.

The individual bussed terminals can be bought through GM still for it too. I don't have the part numbers but I remember pricing them out to do a custom LSx install in a mid 80's Silverado for a customer once. He had a lot he wanted-electric fans, relay powered headlights w/delay off, nitrous/purge relays, ignition control and auto kill relays, etc. so this is the relay/fuse center I suggested.

The control box for the plug'n'play LS3 crate motor is also an option. I think Mouser has all the parts and terminals: I redid one with two added relays for a total of five, IIRC. It's a standard GM part that was used on the Eacalade, with bussed power and lots of slots for both mini and maxi fuses.
If you're interested I can find the part numbers.

I use the Project Boxes from Radio Shack. Don't know how available they are any more... Here is a link to another supplier for plastic boxes. They also have some aluminum and other styles so look around in their site.

here are a couple I have put in my truck and the van I am building. The one in the truck was painted body color and it disappears into the fender. The one for the van will get the same treatment.

This is the van box. This has a bunch of relays in it now. Had to fab the bracket to hang it from. All of the wires pass thru the back, thru the sq. hole in the bracket and out to the fans, NS Switch and B/U Lights.

Cool but it's a lot handier to have bussed battery leads and spots for mini or maxi fuse AND relay bases too if a factory look is the objective.
