Im working on a 65 mustang fb (auto-x and open track car) and did a test fit of front wheel/tire with borrowed wheel . The wheel is 17x8 w/4.5" bs and 235/45- 17 tire. When full turn the rim hits the tubular uca. Also the tire is a bit wide and may need to pull and roll the fender to avoid rub. SOME suggest going with a 17x7 rim with 4.25"bs. Problem is, I don't think a 235/45 tire can be safely mounted on a 7" rim. I checked with TR , and they suggest a minimum rim size of 7.5". Unfortunately the rim I wish to use does not come in 7.5" size.
Obviously it would be easier to just go with the 7" rim w/4.25" bs, but concerned with having to go with smaller tire size.
Truthfully, I don't mind pulling and rolling the fender and grinding some material off the uca as I feel the 235/45 is right, if not somewhat a bit small. (The more rubber the better)
Getting ready to order the wheels and don't want to throw money away on wrong rims size.
