I'm replacing the trunk pan in my 71 camaro and came across some type of seam sealer or panel adhesive that was about an inch wide and hard as a rock. The only place I found this was along the bottom seam where the front of the trunk pan mates to the rear seat back panel around the fuel vent canister. Any ideas of what this is and what I can use to replace it with??

Are you wanting to glue the trunk pan into place? If so, I'd use 3M 3115 panel adhesive, or equivalent. Or, I'd use it as a sealant as well. If your going to weld the panel in I'd use something else.

The trunk pan is already welded in but the stuff I'm talking about was hard as a rock compared to the rest of the seam sealer on the car.

I'm pretty positive it's all the same. If it's different someone messed with it. I personally used seam sealer from autozone, it's not the same though

Use 3m panel bond,it will seam seal and bond at the same time!
