8.8 rear rotors with chevy bolt pattern?

I just bought a disc brake 8.8 rear end out of a 2002 mustang GT. I'm going to install it in my 67 Firebird but I will have to narrow it first. Since I will have to order new axles I figured I would go ahead and get them in the 5 x 4.75 bolt pattern.

If I do this is there an option out there for 5 x 4.75 BP rotors that fit the stock 8.8 disc setup?

Or will I have to get 8.8 Ford rotors drilled to GM BP?

Should I just stick with the Ford BP and use adapters?

Personally I would get the axles with the GM bolt pattern. Mismatch BP front and rear never made sense to me. If you're using stock type rotors, get an extra set and have them drilled 5x4.75 at the same time. Grease them and store for future use.

I think you can get blanks and drill them yourself.

You can have the stock rotors redrilled at most any machine shop...

Definitely keep us updated on this. The 8.8 seems like a really good option, but the brakes/bolt pattern were always a hang-up for me too. Let us know what you go with.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like re-drilling ford rotors will be the way to go but I will update this when I get everything finished.

My original plan was to run the rear end with adapters but when I measured and figured out it was too wide I knew I would have to narrow it and get new axles anyway.

BTW the width of this 8.8 is 62.75 in WMS to WMS if anyone is thinking of using one.

I'm building a couple 8.8"s. I'll need new axles, so I'm going to use GM disc brake 9" housing ends, and LS1 rear brakes.

If you want to use 8.8" rotors, the lug holes aren't all that critical since the rotor is centered on the hub of the axle. You can drill them yourself, or slot the existing holes. You only need to slot each hole about an 1/8".

i have used 8.8 before with really good luck. You really want to look into a 2001 and lower Ford exsplorer rear. They are offset and when recentered it is like install a rear that is 1.5 narrower on neach side. they are 31 splined, trac lock and i cut the drivers side 3 inches shorter and install a factory pass side axle in the left side. $30 for spare axle. i am picking another one up for $200 with 40k. i do like the idea of changing the end to big ford bearings and with this setup i am looking to build i would like to get rid of the c clips.
